Wild-caught blue catfish, sourced responsibly, processed with care, and delivered with pride.
Our plant is located in Piney Point Maryland, right on the Potomac River - an epicenter of this incursion. We serve as a local, reliable year-round buyer of the invasive Blue catfish. Our work to process these fish provides an outlet for career watermen to have a sustainable income while providing consumers with a delicious, low-cost protein source.
We aim to reclaim the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, protecting native organisms and the vast ecosystem by incentivizing the removal of these invasive species from our waters.
We started Bluecat Fisheries with the goal of reclaiming the Bay while creating something useful and lasting. That meant taking on one of the region’s biggest ecological threats — the invasive blue catfish — and turning it into something good. Every fish we process is one less predator to native species, and every pound we sell helps support local jobs and healthier ecosystems.
Conservation isn’t just a campaign — it’s baked into everything we do.
From restaurants and grocery stores to schools and nonprofits, we bring wild-caught protein to the table.
We sell and repurpose every part of the Bay Lion — from skins and heads to guts and bones.
